Saw two adult red-headed woodpeckers at the Three Rivers Park Bryant Lake in
Eden Prairie. They were at the boat launch, picking up acorns.

Friends of Roberts will lead bird walks in the Roberts Bird Sanctuary at 8 a.m.
on Saturday mornings during spring migration. Many migrating birds visit the
Sanctuary on their long journeys!
When: Saturday at 8 a.m. starting April 21 and continuing through May.
Where: Roberts Bird Sanctuary,
4:15 pm: I noted the owl sitting in the entry of the largest, highest, Wood
Duck box 40 feet from the northwest corner of our house. I checked the box TV
camera yesterday and the box was empty. There are pellets in the box now.
Perhaps the wet weather drove it inside. The owl can be seen from

I had an unusual sighting in St. Peter on Sunday, Oct. 9. I'm a Gustavus grad
(1962 -- same class as Jim Gilbert, a close friend!). We were back for the GA
symphony concert on 10/9, in which my granddaughter now plays.

Grassland sparrows,
Baltimore Orioles, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks and Eastern Bluebirds can all be
found at this Refuge unit in Carver County, south of the town of Carver. We’ll
also check out the Minnesota River and see what’s on Rapids Lake. We’ll b
tried to raid the nest on the Multifoods
Tower or had just entered the restricted airspace and was trying to hide on the
ledge to get away from the parent(s). An interesting morning that was!

MRVAC field trip report.
At the Eden Prairie city park Purgatory Creek Recreation area last evening, we
had a nice, bird-filled walk despite the warm, humid conditions:
At and in the lake, we saw osprey's and bald eagles fishing successfully,
several double crested cormorants, young or eclipse

evening the MN River Valley Audubon Chapter (MRVAC) and MN Valley National
Wildlife Refuge
Bass Ponds are south of Old Shakopee Rd at 86th, near Cyprus Semi Conductor
plant.

Walk refuge trails to search for birds and other wildlife as night settles
over the valley. We will have a few extra binoculars to loan if needed.
Those staying until dusk will have a chance to view planets and stars.

lakes and marshes of Scott County as we look for migrating waterfowl. There
is very little walking involved. We should be back at the Transit Center
