FYI- a brightly plumaged male Varied Thrush discovered in Marine-on-the-Crox
(Washington County). It is in a very accessible location for viewing. Please

observations. still watching it here at 8:15pm. Seems to hunt the sumac brush

CR5/50th near the Smith Lake RR tracks, ~1mi N of Hwy12, 4:30pm. It was very
white with few flecking, no real goggle white diagnostic about the eyes, very
little dust on crown, perhaps the same individual as CR6/30th.

Discovered the presence of an Acadian Flycatcher today in the newly designated
Kraemer Lake-Wildwood County Park WNW of the I94 exit to St. Joseph. Find the
park ~2-3 miles up on CR51 from CR2 underpass of I94. Parking area on the
left...walk on the westward trail along the field/forest edge
Compiled a 125 specie count by noon from several groups looping the grounds. A
26 specie warbler count, most trail zones along lakes, ponds, and deciduous to

Seen three Buff-breasted Sandpipers in southern Stearns fairly early this
morning, along with the RBGulls, Franklin's Gulls, and Killdeeron a
harvested ag field that sort of looks like sod removal patch. 101st Ave--south
bound gravel road off the SW corner of Pearl Lake (Marty, MN).
Frank Gosiak spotted a Common Gallinule as we re-turned to a spot birded
earlier, beautifully plumaged, 6pm. It was swimming out in the open for some
time until a juvenile Ruddy Duck popped up from beneath it. The Gallinule flew
up with a fright and into the thick sedge of the pond structure.

About 4.30pm, re-located a suspected Pacific Loon in the Bayport (Breezewood
road) bay (westernmost finger bay ) of Lake Koronis-Stearns County S-SW of
Paynesville S of Hwy 23 along CR 20. A few fall plumaged Common Loons on the

snowflakes, first reported by Phil Chu last week and in the same location(just

St. John's Arboretum Birding Morning w/ Bob Russell, 4 small groups had a low
composite of 91 species on the SJU campus/woods/prairie. Only ten warblers
seen and all in few numbers. Of note: 1-Blackburnian, few Tennessee,
Orange-crowned, Yellow, BW, 1-N.Waterthrush, lots of Ovenbirds.

I was at WilliamO'Brian State Park in northern Washington County, just S of the
hamlet of Coppas along Hwy 95.
I spent all that time slowly sauntering what I believe is
I birded the trail in the early Sat. morning (4:30-9:30) and I did not find or
hear the YB Chat reported in that region of the park. However, I did get up to
55 species just staying in that stretch from the prairie to the RR track curve.

a loud Henslow's near his home hayfield, I am reporting my observation this
morning from 6:30-7:00am. First, location: Take CR2 S-SW off of the I94 exit
to St. Joseph, MN (left turn)--go to Jacobs Prairie (look for
