Well I got a thrill and was completely off guard (ie: no camera).
Was heading to Burnsville via back roads from Prior Lake..you go around
Murphy Hanrehan Park (north side) and come out on
Burnsville Pkwy and Co.Rd 42. And I saw a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers.
This has been a bird that I have
I just saw a huge flock of white Pelicans circling this morning in
Jordan, Mn. Near
Sand Creek-169 and 282.
They look so cool when the sun hits them.

This a.m on my way to work I found another injured hawk on the road..
Scott Co. area.
The first hawk, last Sunday was definitely a juvenile Red Tail Hawk,
the Raptor Center called back and left a message that it didn't make
it, plus the fact that it had detached retinas..so it was basically
Juvenile hawk that I rescued off of Hwy 169 and Marystown this a.m.
Anyone know what kind of hawk it is...it squawked all the way from
Shakopee to Roseville..wanting food or Mom~ Or something..he was
really mellow on the whole trip...sitting perched on the box and
my arm the whole trip.
I am just curious..I have never had a Robin at my feeders...picking at
seed and eating suet...with
the woodpeckers, sparrows, siskins, finches and squirrels. Aren't they
more of an insect eater? Must like my
homemade woodpecker suet I made.

It was the craziest thing...to see a Downy Woodpecker and a Robin both
picking at the same piece of
suet at the same time..It is in a very accessible place for all the
critters. Even the rabbits hop up the steps to the deck
to get their treats..which was new one me as well.
Thanks all~
Shari
I was so excited to spot a Red Headed Woodpecker at my feeder yesterday.
I haven't seen one
in years, many years at that. I tried to get a picture, but i didn't
turn out to well through the screen
and I scared it away. I have Downy woodpeckers, Hairy woodpeckers,
flickers, but no Pileated.
I am sorry all... I live in Jordan Mn right off 169 and 282

Maybe swearing is not the best way to emphasize a point...especially
with a young birder. Personally I find that
word totally offensive

Does anyone know of a wild life rehab person in the south metro area ? I
rescued a very small mourning dove (approx 4 days old). And I am in the
middle
of having a car repair done with no access to the wildlife center for a day
or 2.
Any help is appreciated. I did go look for the nest this a.m
This may be a silly question..but I have noticed in a couple messages
where ppl say Harris' Sparrow FOY for example...what does the FOY stand for
anyhow ??
clay-colored sparrows *Harris' sparrows (FOY - Tues. morning)*
house sparrows
robins
bluebirds
ovenbird*
rose-breasted grosbeaks (FOY)*
Thanks for the FOY help.now can anyone do anything with this weather :)
Shari
