A Mute Swan was in the south pond at the Gaylord WTP this afternoon. It
was rather wary and flew as soon as I came upon it in the pond. No banding
was visible while the bird was in flight. It didn't move far - just to the
pond on the far east end of the complex.

Other reports of lone Mute Swans from this region over the last few years
may all represent just a couple of individuals:

6, 7 July 2012 - in northern McLeod County;
6-25 July 2012 - in Sibley County at the Gaylord WTP;
22, 23 September 2012 - in Wright County on the east side of Pelican Lake;
15, 16 December 2012 - in Scott in Shakopee;
24 April 2013 - in Nicollet County, east of the town of Nicollet;
13, 14, 20 October 2013 - in Sibley six miles south of the Gaylord WTP at
the Nicollet County line;
16, 17 October 2013 - one a bit farther south in Nicollet County, 4 miles
north of the town of Nicolle (and about 9 miles south of the Nicollet County
line);
18, 31 March, 2 April 2014 - near Courtland, Nicollet County;
5 April 2014 - near Pelican Lake;
13 April 2014 - in extreme eastern Renville County;
11-13 October 2014 - in Scott at the New Prague WTP;
6 November - at the Gaylord WTP (again), this location is 33 miles due east
of the prior record from Scott County.
