With recent rains the water level of Rice Lake has risen, mudflats have vanished and the shorebird numbers have dropped. This afternoon I counted just under 100 shorebirds of three species. Almost all were Lesser Yellowlegs with a few Greater Yellowlegs and two Wilson's Phalaropes.
