Enjoyed a nice walk at the refuge today. There were lots of Mallards and
lots of Canada Geese on Black Dog Lake. We also were able to watch a 1/2
dozen Bald Eagles, at times flying very low over the flocks of Mallards on
the lake. Plus a few other species. Here are some of

For the first time I have had a Yellow Bellied Sapsucker at my
feeders all day today. I was logging it on Project Feeder Watch and
they seemed to think it was out of the ordinary so I figured I'd post it.
We are located 5 miles south of Farmington off hwy 3. Is it so
unusual to have them
I birded the Duluth area today and saw the following birds, mostly in
previously reported locations:
Townsend's Solitaire - on Park Point near the houses closest to the row of
planted crabappled that lead to the restroom
Northern Hawk Owl - .25 miles N of Martin Rice Lake Rd

The Slaty-backed Gull was still visible on the St. Croix River at Pt.
Douglas Park, Washington County at 3:45 p.m. today.
The green-tailed towhee made its reappearance several times this morning
at the previously reported location. A SD birder had been there since
dawn and had seen it a few times already. We arrived at around 9:30 AM,
and the bird flew in at about 10:10 with some juncos. It fed beneath the
Five of us from central Iowa birded northeastern Minnesota this weekend.
