Dear Minnesota Birders:
Yesterday (5/23), while birding with my mother at the Bass Ponds in
Bloomington, we saw a Black-billed Cuckoo at the bottom of the downhill
entrance trail. This was a first species for me during Minnesota
migration. I thought it would be the highlight of the day, but
attachment was scrubbed...

We observed the Brant for about a half-hour 3:30 - 4:00 pm, grazing in Bayfront
park near the concert stage. It was alone.

Today (May 24), Mark Ochs, Jim Otto and I spent the morning birding the Sax-Zim
bog area, and the afternoon in Duluth. Some highlights:
Great Gray Owls: One was observed on Stickney Road 1.2 miles north of Arkola
(County 52) (same location as reported yesterday by Sparky Stensaas). This was

to be just getting here and kinda staggering there way
in a little at a time.
