I was quite shocked this morning when walking the dogs at Veterans Memorial
Park, Richfield when I encountered a small flock of 8 immature Northern
Bobwhite. How they got there I am not sure. They were either raised right
near the Park or someone released them recently. They are very tame and
There were 12 Bobwhite quail in a friend's yard at 73rd and Chicago in
Richfield
two weeks ago, feeding under her bird feeder. She said they seemed
quite tame.

I searched for the Sprague's Pipit for several hours Tuesday, July 3, with no
success. I was there in the morning during the seemingly most reliable times
to hear the bird. The seasonal report lists June 29 as the last day anyone has
posted seeing the bird.

To follow up on Jesse's post from last week, today Wisconsin birders found a
Dickcissel in their 72nd county out of 72. Minnesota has reported them in 83
of 87 counties. For 2012, we are only missing reports of this species from
Stevens, Traverse, Roseau, and Cook.
