Hi Among 45 species of birds seen on Gary Swanson’s hike at West Mississippi Park in Ramsey this morning were Belted Kingfishers, Chipping Sparrows, Vesper Sparrows and a Broad Winged Hawk. There was at least one Eagle chick visible from the nest across the river . Here are a few photos from

Today I found two Black-necked Stilts at Getchell Lake in Oak Twp., Stearns Co. I watched them from about 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM, and then I left; the stilts were still there. To get to Getchell Lake, take I-94W to the Albany exit; at the foot of the exit ramp, turn left and go under the freeway

Hi All— I only band a few sapsuckers here in Northfield every year. On Wednesday I caught a female with a few crimson feathers in her white throat. Although I have never seen this before in a female sapsucker, Pyle’s Identification guide assures me that female Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers do
