I observed a black-backed woodpecker working on a tree adjacent to the Clearwater Road in Cook County. The light was dim and I was not carrying bins so I don't know if it had the yellow forehead patch. First black-backed I have seen in about 4 years. I will email again if I re-locate it.

[mou-net] Pectoral Sandpiper Still Present
