The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Audubon Minnesota will host the
second annual Kids' Bird Watching Fair from 9am-1pm on Saturday, May 8th
at the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge's Visitor Center in
Bloomington. This free event celebrates International Migratory Bird
Day by teaching children about the basics of bird watching. The event
is for children ages 12 and under and their families. Children will
participate in bird banding and view live raptor demonstrations. They
will also learn about bird identification and bird feeding and learn how
to use field guides and binoculars. No reservations are needed and all
participants and chaperones will receive a complimentary lunch. A
special feature this year will be the award ceremony for the Jr. Duck
Stamp Competition between 10am and 11am. For more information about
this event go to http://mn.audubon.org/events/1597.
