As many of you know, the Mpls. Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) is looking
for a location for an off-leash dog park in south or southwest
Minneapolis. Two of three locations are adjacent or very near the east
entrance to
Roberts Bird Sanctuary. Below is are excerpts from an update

Just to clarify ... the first site is just outside of the fence marking Roberts
Bird Sanctuary, so I guess that technically it is not part of the reserve. It
is the wooded area between Roberts and the Rock Garden.

Not much of a birder, but took a couple of hours outside this
afternoon with my field glasses to visit the Roberts Bird Sanctuary
near Lake Harriet. It was a little windy, but nice.
One of the two ponds was clear and the larger was half clear of ice.
Many Common Grackles (24) in trees
