[Mpls] Minneapolis Survey

The results of a Minneapolis Citizen Survey conducted by the City between Nov. 11, 2001 and Jan. 4 of this year, were presented to the Mayor and City Council at a study session yesterday. The survey gathered information on resident priorities and satisfaction with City services among other

From my understanding of the budget proposals, the legislature's plan cut $15 million, the Gov.'s plan would take $150 million. Part of that would be through a new tax, a sales tax on all districts in the state. That means purchases the districts make would be taxed. Here in Minneapolis, that

Annie, Why select a burger chain? How about a local Minneapolis vendor? Why not a small business? Something with a variety of interesting food options? Perhaps ethnic, different menus in different locations? Lisa McDonald had a great idea last year - hire a local restaurateur to provide

This is an interesting idea. A few questions quickly come to mind: Were other local operators given an opportunity to submit proposals to operate the concessions? (Such as local ice cream shops [Sebastian Joe's for example], local coffee shops, restaurants?) How will the issue of property

While I REALLY like the product, and would love to buy a DQ in Loring Park, I totally agree that the last thing we need is some kind of commercial chain look/feel/image on the shores of our beloved lakes. DQ is a local company and one I would think/hope would be very receptive to working with the

At the risk of enrolling in the Slippery Slope School of Anxiety, I am loathe to see the franchising of our parks in any way. When I was a member of CLIC, one of "our" collective civic embarrassments was the distinction of Minneapolis having the only public park with a liquor store on the land.

Great idea - I'm all for it! The Park Board really should not be in the concession business, and if they can get someone reputable to do it and pay the Park Board for the privilege - that's great! Dairy Queen is a hometown business and should get the contract. Karen Collier Linden Hills
