Annie, you are not my homebase commissioner, but I want to thank you so much
for your "NO" vote on the DQ issue. Maybe you helped promote alot of
discussion, at least.  I live in Longfellow now, but I grew up near Lake
Harriet and have lived in MPLS most of my 59 years.

I want to add an idea which  I haven't seen in print yet.  To me having DQ
come into the MPLS Parks is tearing down  a tradition of many generations.
Doesn't this have something to do with Historic Preservation ?

To me it is similar to all the wonderful old MPLS architecture /buildings
which we tore down to make room for new and supposedly better (more
economical??) structures.  Now, in hindsight, we miss our old architectural
traditions and realize how hasty and foolhardy we were.  And we are a bit
ashamed to admit that St. Paul had the sense and good taste to preserve much
more of it's TRADITION.

Please preserve this wonderful old tradition_ plain old real popcorn with
real butter, plain old real ice cream with real cones, plain old taffy etc.

TAKE YOUR TIME and find someone willing to run a "fine old tradition" of a
place.  I know damn well that once DQ gets in there it won't be gettin out.
And what will happen at Minnehaha Park next year??  What a loss it would be
to promote the "every neighborhood and every town looks just like the next"
concept, in our parks.
