As I have watched the filings occur I am very curious as to why more people are not filing for positions on the school, library or park board rather than everyone wanting to be Mayor. In the past folks have started in the independent board positions and then jump to Couuncil or Mayor races after one has gotten their feet wet and learned the system a little bit before biting off "the big one". I wonder if the "political junkie" historians on this list have comments and/or will the fields get flooded the last two days of filing. Anyone else think this is a really unusual year for city elections or is there really some changes occuring because of the insurgence of third party politics?
