Ms. Introwitz Pareene: We are all frustrated at the number of teachers being
cut this year, but you're following the wrong tack here. It's the revenue,
not the spending, that's the problem.
This year's budget cuts are the third consecutive year of cuts for MPS, a

What JOseph Erickson posted regarding the level
of overhead in the system was enlightening. But
what I'd also like to see is the per student cost

Relative to inflation, are we paying more to
educate a student? And what would be the main

Given that the boy's aunt is an aide to Mayor Rybak, we might see some
justice here, otherwise this incident would be ignored by City Hall and
our local news media (with the exception of City Pages and Pulse). In
any case, there have been far too many incidents of abuses by the

I looked at the applications to high school on the first link below. It is
amazing what narrow choices the schools expect eighth graders to make when
applying for high schools. I've heard through the grape vine that the
actual experience in the high schools isn't nearly so narrow as the

It is heartening to see more listmembers paying attention to economic
conditions:
[Mork] Then the article in the Homes section said low interest
rates were reducing the potential market of renters at the same
time as 1,600 new apartments were coming on line (no building?)

I'm glad that this issue is getting the coverage it deserves. However, it
is clear that this is happening only because the young man involved is the
nephew of Kinshasha Kambui, aide to the mayor. At the same time this was

Apparently there are two people with the same name working in the Mayor's office. The Kinshasa Kambui I know cares very deeply and has worked very hard on the issue of civil rights.

This is a very disturbing story that makes my stomach

participate in this list will investigate this

Okay, so let me get this straight. Because an entity is "beholden to the City" (a yet as undefined term), their voice has no credibility in the process of mediation? Who determined this? Those that wanted to take part and had never received financial (or other) assistance?
