Newcomers to the
Just wanted folks to chime in about their caucus attendance last night. I
was at the DFL 61B side caucuses, we had 12 different caucuses at Richard
Green school. The majority of our groups were able to fill their entire
allotment of delegates which was an improvement from two years ago. I

year of the unfortunate Saturday experiment. This year
there was nine, which while still quite small wasn't
too far away from the average attendence in the 90's.

Unfortunately, I missed the precinct caucus last night. I've never
attended one before, and I was looking forward to learning a thing or
two. Is it possible to review minutes or agenda notes? Or am I outta
luck. What went on? Who can fill me in?

One troubling note: the attendees at my Minneapolis caucus looked to be 100%
Caucasian and over 30 (except for 2 Holy Angels students forced to watch by
their social-studies teacher). The DFL has something to worry about, and the
color might be Green! On the other hand, I noted that the Strib

participate in the straw polls, because the numbers (shown on the
Secretrary of State's website) provide a reliable indication of caucus
turnout. (Great job, Mary!)
Over here in St. Paul, the Ward 3 precincts all met at Highland Park Sr. High.
The cafeteria was about 1/2 full for the candidate speeches before breaking up into
precincts.
Precinct 3-23 had 21 attendees, 4 (a little less than 20%) were newcomers to our
precinct caucus and of those 4, 3 were

Governor supporter. I was surprised at her appeal in the Metro since she
is an outstate State Senator currently.
The body lacked some organization, but we elected 25 delegates to the SD 58
