the drivers* you really need into WinPE (most often that will be network,
but rarely you'll need some storage drivers also)

of using manufacturer specific ones.

Also keep in mind there is no such thing as 'WinPE' drivers. They are the same
as the OS drivers, just corresponding architecture.
WinPE 3.1 - Win7
WinPE 4.0 - Win8
WinPE 5.0 - Win8.1
X86 and x64 respectively.

Yes, CU1 includes that hotfix. I see sporadic reports of it not working though
and am not sure of the commonality. Did you apply CU1 to the XP system begin
reimaged?
