I found that I needed to turn this option off in the
xorg.conf for nVidia driver
1.0.7167:
Option RenderAccel 0
otherwise I got a hang on kde startup. You might try that.
Couldn't get the kernel module to load at all with 7167 and a GF2.
Back to 6629 for me...
