Hi all!
Is it possible to start a script automatically on a remote host in case of a
particolar event?
For example, if nagios detects that process named on a DNS server is down,
will Nagios can run a remote command on that server to restart the process?

Hi there!
I am running into a little issue with retention setup here, and i wish
to know if there is anybody out there that is experiencing something
related to retention config/ retention file updates.
Out of nowhere, an alert appears on Service Status Details page on
Central Nagios server,
Ok, it really is minutes, but even with retention_update_interval=1, the
retention file do not get updated. Only when restarting. BTW, is the
retention file just a copy of the status file?
Thanks for your anwser, but it still troubled here.
Marcel.

Curtis,
Welcome. I recommend sticking with the rpm installation with both Nagios

Good luck,

Ive found a good general practice,
for just about any type of server, is to start with a minimal install. Then,
as you put the server together, add packages as you need them. It may be a bit
slower and more involved than just selecting from a list during a GUI install,
but it gives you
