This will not work. Solaris 8 does not have SMF you need to add it to nrpe
first install / compile the package for example in /usr/local/nagios
create file nrpe.cfg
and paste the following line in the /etc/inetd.conf
nrpe stream tcp nowait nagios /usr/local/nagios/nrpe -c
