macro names are good. I have verified each and every macro I am using
multiple times.
I suspect something wrong with the notification script.
the script works fine when I execute it manually.
But when it comes to nagios, I don't find any record of HOST DOWN/UP

Hello
Has anybody found problems with the results from avail.cgi when you have
scheduled downtime for services? The totals for OK/WARNING/CRITICAL are
fine, but under the following circumstances there are errors in the
scheduled/unscheduled calculations:

when i migrated from nagios 1.4 to nagios 3.2, i did not add following
lines to contacts.cfg

Again the same question. the nagios docs say, these lines are
required. however, my service notifications are working but the host
Ok, I am still pretty shallow into the subject so my questions may be a
little easy/un-researched.
1. With nagios, are you supposed to define hosts in the cfg files
in a folder you have to create called objects? Or is this done through
the website through the asset page.

I was asked to see if we can capture and alert on a event that happens

Often, when you're getting an error and the only result you see is
(null), what is happening is that your check script is printing to
stderr. It might be that you have perl in your path, but the perl

Ed,
I do Windows event log checking a fair amount in my environment, however I use
NRPE to do it. I’m not sure what it would take to implement a NRPE check on
your network, but here’s code to do it:
../../libexec/check_nrpe –H 10.0.94.22 –c CheckEventLog –a filter=new
file=Application
What distribution are you using?
What do you mean by custom install? Compiling from source?
Did you checked /usr/local/nagios/etc ?
