Looks like we're having a problem with Nagios resetting the timezone when issuing the RESTART_PROGRAM external command. We have an event handler set up to dynamically create some Nagios config files from our database, at the end of which we send the RESTART_PROGRAM command via the comand file.

I don't know how kosher this is, but I worked around that issue by disabling active checks and disabling notifications, then entering a passive check that showed the host as up. That way I wouldn't see reports about the downed system until I re-enabled active checks. -Original

Just posting that I figured out my issue. I had the broadband contact group still listed as a contact in the linux-server template from when I orig set this up. I am using a separate host template entry for the broadband check. Once I removed the broadband contact from the linux-server host
