I think you're right about the problem.
In nagios.cfg file you can find the user you're running these commands as. It's
usually nagios

As far as I remember there are no options for this in the standard check_http
plugin. You can create 2 checks (and maybe a third one that aggregates them and
trigger the notifications), or use a wrapper plugin running the 2 checks and
merging the results. Or you can use check_multi, but maybe
Freshness threshold is the word :)

If you run nrpe via xinetd, the standalone service has to be stoppedm if it's
not, xinetd can't bind the port.
Regarding the plugin location, you can change it in nrpe.cfg

Are the old directories still being filled with performance data? Maybe you
should check the service perfdata command. Though It's only a spool directory
and it could stay in the old position, maybe you moved them.

Actually, if nagios command definition is calling the dummy script, it won't
receive 2 statuses, but only one. Btw, you could pass more commands to a single
check_by_ssh, removing the dummy.

Maybe you can use ocsp:
http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/3_0/configmain.html
But mind that obsessive command is executed after EVERY service check, not only
on a state change.

Better to go with the 3.0 version :)
http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/3_0/tuning.html
There is a common problem I experience with google indexing: every time I look
for nagios docs, i'm redirected to old, (v2.0) one.

On the server part, you should go with:
- monitor physical interfaces (snmp)
- monitor bonding sytatus (in /proc/net/bonding/bond0, or the sysfs equivalent)
Moreover, you could monitor network interfaces on the switch side. You can for
example, use custom variables to store switch ports on
You aren't passing that http://xyz.com thing to the server, are you?

Hi Melissa,
if you disable the embedded perl interpreter in nagios.cfg, does the script
start to work?

Hi all,
I'm having some problem in changing custom object variables via
external commands. Using nagios 3.0.6 and 3.2.0 but it seems to ignore
*almost* completely my command.
