Hi,
I have some 150 services that I wish to monitor using passive checks to Nagios.
Is it possible for Nagios to dynamically display these services as it received
the check without specifying the exact service name in the configuration?
Please suggest if there is any way out to get this done.
I don't know if nagios can do this by itself, but with tools like puppet or
cfengine you can do it.

What is your requirement for their display in Nagios? Should the service appear
under a specific host for example, or how do you desire to have
no.
you have to define the services before Nagios can display them,
otherwise Nagios won't know where the passive checks it received
should go, this is the rule.
but maybe you can do a trick: while a passive check occurs, create a
config file dynamically for the subject service, restart Nagios to

I have gone through this article. Not of much help to me :(
Is it somehow possible that nagios fetches service name from passive check
sent to it and display it as it is to nagios home page?

This is great idea. I think I will try this out.
Thanks Yueh.
