I've run two copies of 1.x concurrently in the past and am currently
running a copy of 1.3 and a copy of 2.0rc1 on the same machine. I
generally find that it's easiest to recompile with a different --prefix,
make install and copy over modified config files. Is there some specific
issue you're trying to resolve by running multiple instances? I would
consider that an unusual configuration outside of a testing environment.
