6 Korean Boys need Short-Term Welcome Host Families! 4-6 weeks! Here they
are!!
Please consider welcoming one of these Korean high school students to your
home, school and community for 4-6 weeks!! These boys must have a
commitment by Saturday from a US school and family!
A great short-term opportunity to try hosting a student, learn about Korea,
expose your children to the Korean culture!! During this time, the boy will
get started at school while we work to identify a permanent host family in
your community! (Often easier once the student has arrived!) You can
continue to visit with your international guest throughout the year, if you
wish! Take a look....
Ho-Joon #30525, is entering the 10th grade. His dad is a Builder, mom
teaches Kindergarten. He has a 14 year old sister and likes younger
children. He is a Christian boy who goes to church and has volunteered at
the Post Office. He plays Basketball, chess, likes movies and computers.
Dong-In #30532 has volunteered for Habitat for Humanity in Korea and is
entering the 11th grade. BOTH parents are teachers and he has two older
sisters. He is Catholic, but seldom attends church. He likes basketball,
reading, internet, the movies, hiking, soccer, reading and cooking!!
Tae-Ho #30675 is going into 10th grade. His dad is CFO for Seagrams, and mom
is a business owner. He has a 12 year old brother at home, and his family
are practicing Catholics. He has done volunteer work and prefers a home
without pets, but would adjust. He plays basketball, cello and golf.
In-Young #30677 is entering 9th grade and is an A Student! His mom is at
home and Dad is a Teacher. He has volunteered in hospitals and is an only
child. He enjoys reading, computers, tennis and listening to music. Also
badminton, fishing, skiing, chess and indoor games!
Joun-Young #30678 is also entering 9th grade and has one sister, 12 years
old. Dad is a businessman and mom is a writer. He is an active Catholic
boy, and a member of the Young Astronauts and Beatles Clubs! He enjoys
computer, basketball, listening to music and reading!
Eun-Taek #30725 is entering 10th grade and has a 16 year old sister. He is
Protestant in religion and has volunteered to work with disabled persons.
Eun likes younger children and enjoys all sports, especially soccer and
basketball. He enjoys meeting friends and also staying home with family!

Those with free web based email or other sources of spam may have received
many invitations to purchase a college degree by email. Not
surprisingly, this activity is being greeted with less than amusement by
colleges and universities that offer the real degrees that take somewhat
longer than fifteen minutes to earn. The issue is also reaching the press.

Colleges Demand that Fakedegrees.com Remove Their Names From Its Web Site

Officials from several institutions have demanded that a company that
sells fake diplomas over the Internet stop listing the colleges' names on
its Web site.
The company, fakedegrees.com, has complied with many of the
cease-and-desist requests, removing the names of the colleges that sent
them.
But hundreds of other institutions are still listed on the Web site, which
allows anyone to purchase "authentic looking" diplomas that seem to come
from those colleges. The company's Web site says that the fake diplomas
are "intended for novelty purposes only."

days a very active discussion of this issue of fake degrees, one message
seen just before posting this message and another interrupting the
composition of this message. One must join the University Web Design list

SCHOOLS, TECH: STILL STRUGGLING
Thanks to the e-rate, the vast majority of students and schools in America
have Internet access. But what, realistically, can be done with the
technology? There is no universal formula for how to use new technologies to
raise achievement or test scores. Every school is different. But there are
some critical factors that must be in place for successful use of
technology. At the top are teacher training and support, adequate equipment
and solid infrastructures. "What a lot of people out there arguing don't
realize is that it takes time to get equipment in place, to provide staff
with training and to change the way they are operating in the classroom,"
said Crystal Priest, a school technology coordinator in rural Maine.
"Technology is a tool," added Priest, "It's not an answer for every problem,
and it's not the answer for every kid. But just like any other tool, if you
use it well, you're going to see a good return."
