The meeting...was to have given Jackson -- recently indicted on charges of child molestation -- the opportunity to share his views on world affairs with the CBC's 38 members. Some members of the CBC, however, reportedly felt that, given the singer's current legal troubles, it would be politically unwise for him to appear.” - UPI, 3/26/04 DOGGONE IT, THIS IS RIDICULOUS “Taking government nannyism to new heights, Santa Fe, N.M., ‘is considering requiring doggie seat belts,’ the Associated Press reports.” - Best of the Web, 3/26/04 WELL...HERE’S A SHOCKER “Records show that despite claiming to be a Republican, all of Richard Clarke's campaign contributions in the last decade have gone to Democrats.” - Talk-show host Neal Boortz KERRY PULLS ANOTHER KERRY “Sen. John Kerry (Mass.), the Democrats' presumptive presidential nominee, withdrew his co-sponsorship of the Senate's corporate tax bill last fall, citing concerns that the bill's international provisions could spur the outsourcing of jobs overseas. The move came shortly after he joined other Democrats in voting the bill out of committee.” - The Hill e-News, 3/26/04 MEDI-sKERRY “Whose fault is it that Medicare is on the fast track to insolvency? An honest answer would be, ‘all the politicians throughout the program’s history who have known about the looming catastrophe but did nothing.’ John Kerry’s answer is: ‘President Bush.’ After Medicare trustees reported on Tuesday that the program will be insolvent in 15 years, Kerry said, ‘Today, the Medicare trustees have reported that because of George Bush’s irresponsible tax breaks for the wealthy and his giveaway to the prescription drug companies, Medicare might not even be there for our generation.’ That is an outright lie.” - The Union Leader 3/26/04 WAR AS AN ELECTORAL WEAPON “The White House begun airing their TV commercials to re-elect the president, and the John Kerry campaign is condemning his use of 9/11 in the ads. He said, it is unconscionable to use the tragic memory of a war in order to get elected, unless of course, it's the Vietnam War." - Jay Leno AIRPORTS TIRED OF TSA (THOUSANDS STANDING AROUND) “More than 100 airports in the United States are planning a return to private security screeners in the face of mounting complaints over long lines and too few federal government workers manning checkpoints. The system would still be under federal control, with the Transportation Security Administration setting policies and conducting background checks of workers, but private companies would employ the screeners, Rep. John Mica, a Florida Republican who heads the House aviation subcommittee, said Thursday. The move is prompted by widespread dissatisfaction with the TSA's ability to keep up with hiring and other problems at most of the nation's 429 commercial airports, Mica said.” - Atlanta Journal-Constitution, 3/25/04 SURVEY SAYS! Should airports “fire” the TSA’s (Transportation Security Administration) federal airport screeners and return to the days when private companies operated the checkpoints? * Yes, the TSA is lousy * No, anti-terror efforts are a gov’t responsibility * I’m a Kerry supporter: Yes AND No Cast your vote by clicking the “Survey Says!” tab at www.citizenoutreach.com WHY LIB-RADIO WILL FRANKEN-FLOP “Simply put, fact and logic are poison to liberal rhetoric. There are only two ways for liberals to survive as talk show hosts. Either they have to be marvelously entertaining, or they have to carefully prevent any telephone calls that disagree with them. So .. .why do you think the Democrats are hiring comedians to do their liberal talk shows?” - Talk-show host Neal Boortz BREAK THAT HORSE’S LEG “Another good argument against antitrust policy has been provided, this time by the regulation-happy Europeans. They have fined Microsoft $612 million for giving consumers Media Player with Windows, and ordered the company to provide a European version without the media program included. This, like the U.S. government's assault on Microsoft earlier, was billed as an attempt to foster competition. But it fosters competition in the same way as crippling one horse in a race so that the others can beat it to the finish line. European consumers will have a choice. They can buy Windows with Media Player or without it. In either case, the price will be the same.” - Florida Times-Union editorial, 3/26/04 SAVE THE DATE * The American Family Business Institute is hosting a breakfast summit meeting on Death Tax Repeal in the Senate Dirksen Office Building, Room G-50, on Wednesday, March 31 starting at 8:30 a.m. Opening remarks by Arizona Sen.
