RINO NEWS

The Senate voted on Wednesday to require 60 votes to pass any further tax cuts over
the next five years instead of a simple majority of 51 votes. Voting with the
Democrats to make passing tax cuts tougher than it already is were four supposedly
Republicans: McCain, Collins, Snowe and Chafee. Gee, thanks guys. One Democrat
voted the way the four GOPers SHOULD have voted: Zell Miller.

THE CORRECT ANSWER IS: ZERO

“ ’Former President Clinton said Tuesday he has no plans to seek another elected
office, preferring to remain in private life because having one Clinton in politics is
'probably more than enough,' ’ the Associated Press reports. Hmm, if one Clinton in
politics is ‘more than enough,’ what number would be optimal?”

POLITICAL QUIZ FOR MORONS

By now you’ve probably seen that college basketball “test” given to players with
mind-bending questions such as “How many points do you get for a three-point shot?”
OK, along those lines, here’s today’s News & Views pop quiz...

In Maryland, two state legislators said this week that the wealthy in the state
weren’t paying their fair share and are proposing tax hikes on “the rich.” Question:
Which party do these two state legislators belong to?

If you really need me to provide the answer to this question, you might want to
consider joining the rest of your tribe down in Palm Beach, Florida.

ABOUT THAT CA PLAN TO LET 16-YEAR-OLDS VOTE

“Unbelievable.  According to this, 16 year old children would be able to vote but NOT
buy cigarettes.  If we can't trust kids with things like cigarettes and drugs, what
makes these fools think we can trust them to vote with ‘knowledge and a conscience?’
Just think of all the mommies and daddies out there who are Liberals that would be
influencing their kids to vote ‘their’ way.  Hmmmm...maybe this is just a desperate
cry from the Democratic party for more votes.”

UGLY CLASS WARFARE

“(Martha Stewart) lost all my respect after her first indictment, when she said her
adversaries were part of a vast right-wing conspiracy against her. . . Nonetheless,
Stewart's felony conviction last Friday was a miscarriage of justice. There can be
little doubt she is being hung out to dry much more for her celebrity and wealth than
for her transgressions, which were de minimus. . . . The Stewart convictions should
leave a bitter aftertaste in conservatives' mouths... Stewart, it appears, was a
victim of class warfare, which has filtered down from the brainless, demagogic
left-wing politicians, now even to juries of our peers.”

MANDATORY HIV TESTING?

Massachusetts state law requires all women be tested for rubella, otherwise known as
German measles, before being issued a marriage license. If the state goes forward
with issuing marriage licenses for same-sex couples, should there be a requirement
that they be tested for HIV? Or should ALL such health tests be eliminated?

KERRY CAMPAIGN IN A NUTSHELL

“Those are my principles. If you don't like them I have others."

- Groucho Marx

PEOPLE IN GLASS KETCHUP BOTTLES…

“Sen. John Kerry, Massachusetts Democrat, is fond of calling corporate chief executive
officers who employ foreigners ‘Benedict Arnolds,’ after the despicable Revolutionary
War turncoat. But look at H.J. Heinz & Co., the family business of Mr. Kerry and his
wife Teresa. Of the 79 factories the food-processor owns, 57 are overseas.”

- James Glassman of TechCentralStation.com

THE TAX MAN

“John Kerry has voted for higher taxes 350 times and his numbers for new spending
don’t add up. His campaign trail promises mean that he is going to raise taxes by at
least $900 billion.”

- Bush/Cheney campaign spokesman Steve Schmidt, 3/10/04

SCARY KERRY’S BOOGIE-MEN

“After a speech in Chicago, (John) Kerry said this to a supporter: ‘Let me tell you,
we've just begun to fight. We're going to keep pounding. These guys are the most
crooked, you know, lying group I've ever seen. It's scary.’ . . . We're actually not
sure it was Kerry, rather than his interlocutor, who said ‘It's scary,’ but in either
case it plays right into the stereotypes of liberals as wimps. You can almost imagine
tough-guy Kerry installing night lights in the presidential bedroom to ward off the
right-wing monsters.”

- James Taranto, Best of the Web, 3/11/04

UNION YANKS KERRY’S STRINGS

“A Boston police union, in tough contract negotiations, has asked Democrats, including
likely presidential nominee John Kerry, to boycott their national convention. Several
unions are using the July 26-29 Democratic National Convention in Boston as leverage
in negotiations with the city. The Boston Police Patrolmen's Association has said that
police union members from at least nine states would walk picket lines at Boston's
Fleet Center during the convention. Union President Thomas Nee, at a news conference
Tuesday, said: ‘There will be an expectation that the line will not be crossed. I know
Democrats do not do that. That's the protocol.’ "

BABS BLABS, EXPOSES HOW RIGHT-WING CONSPIRACY WORKS

“(Actress Barbra Streisand) called Republican political efforts ‘ruthless,’
‘relentless,’ and that they ‘are dirty fighters.’ She said, ‘They can take a slur
hatched at the Republican National Committee or a lie huckstered by the Heritage
Foundation, repeat it on Fox, hit it on Limbaugh, print it in the Wall Street Journal,
until it's coming out of every media outlet imaginable. Repeating lies over and over
doesn't make them any more true. But it does make people believe the lies a little
more until finally they stop demanding the truth.’ She stressed the importance of the
upcoming elections and urged homosexual activists to join her in her attacks against
the administration.”

- GOPUSA.com, 3/11/04

USPS’ DEATH SPIRAL

“...The (USPS) problem generally is that costs of the postal service keep growing
while people are using the service less because of options such as e-mail, digital
phones and electronic bill payments. Congress' General Accounting Office described the
financial concerns as a ‘death spiral.’ . . . Witnesses (at a Senate hearing on
Tuesday) endorsed universal service, the costly principle that every address in
America would continue to get delivery six days a week. But several argued that the
postal service should surrender peripheral services ranging from selling postcards to
providing overnight delivery because private competitors such as United Parcel Service
and FedEx handle them less expensively.“

- Portland (ME) Press Herald, 3/10/04

STICK TO THE KNITTING

“Mark Angelson, R.R. Donnelley's new chairman/president/CEO, focused (his testimony on
postal reform) on work-sharing, network optimization and the Civil Service Retirement
System issue. Work-sharing frees the USPS to focus on its core abilities, he said,
while having others such as R.R. Donnelley focus on the non-core. ‘Delivering the
mail to and from every address six days a week, otherwise known as universal service,
is the USPS's core competency,’ he said. ‘It's simply what they do best. All of the
rest, I suggest [respectfully], should be left to those who can do it better.’ “

- DM News, 3/10/04

A SKOAL LOTTA TAXIN’ GOIN’ ON

“A common sense approach is to tax tobacco products according to risk. Cigarettes,
widely acknowledged as the most dangerous products, are already taxed at high levels
by most states, ostensibly to discourage consumption. But the health impact of
smokeless tobacco use is much, much lower; scientific and medical research has
confirmed that smokeless tobacco use carries only about 2 percent of the risk of
smoking. A rational tobacco tax policy would set taxes on smokeless products at 2
percent of those of cigarettes.”

- Dr. Brad Rodu, The Herald-Dispatch, 3/11/04
