NEW: "Survey Says!"

After recently hiking the cost of first-class stamps by another 3 cents, the
post office is reporting a "profit" for the fiscal year ending July 11, 2003
of almost $5 BILLION. In light of the windfall, should the cost of
first-class stamps now be rolled back? Cast your online vote by going to the
"Survey Says" page at www.CitizenOutreach.com

Bringing People Together

"According to today's Los Angeles Times, (California Democrat Gov.) Gray
Davis now gets negative job ratings from white people, black people,
Latinos, Republicans, independents, even Democrats. Hey, say what you want
about the guy, he's a uniter."

- Tonight Show host Jay Leno

Democrats Slam Army Major Over Guns

Last week, Missouri's legislature overrode, by one vote, a veto by the state
's Democrat governor of a bill establishing the right to carry a concealed
weapon. That one vote was cast by a state senator currently serving his
country in the military. State Sen. Jon Dolan (R) - a major in the Army
National Guard - is stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where the United
States has its hands full playing host to some of the worst terrorists
formerly roaming the planet.

Sen. Dolan was granted a six-day leave to return to Missouri to cast the
deciding vote on the veto override. As you'd expect, the Democrats are
having a cow, with state Sen. Lacy Clay (D) firing off letters to the
Defense Department demanding an investigation of Sen. Dolan's leave. These
people have no shame whatsoever.

King of the Bloody Hill

"(Palestinian) Chairman/President/Chieftain Arafat now has appointed a new
prime minister - the way a ventriloquist changes puppets. Or, in the
unlikely event this new one turns out to have a mind of his own, he can be
jettisoned, too. Yasser Arafat is once again king of the bloody hill."

- Columnist Paul Greenberg

Yet Another Clinton Failure

"On Sept. 13, 1993, Yasser Arafat and Yitzhak Rabin publicly shook hands on
the White House lawn. That gesture ushered in the Oslo 'peace process,' so
called after the Norwegian capital where its groundwork had been laid. The
deal that led to the White House handshake had been sealed with an exchange
of correspondence four days earlier. On Sept. 9, Arafat had signed a letter
declaring that the PLO 'recognizes the right of the State of Israel to exist
in peace and security' and 'renounces the use of terrorism and acts of
violence.' . . . But the White House ceremony did not inaugurate an era of
peace. It inaugurated instead the worst decade of terrorism in Israel's
history."

- Boston Globe Columnist Jeff Jacoby

Arafat to Join Uday and Qusay?

"Israel's vice prime minister said Sunday that killing Yasser Arafat is an
option being considered following a decision to 'remove' the Palestinian
leader. 'Killing (Arafat) is definitely one of the options,' vice premier
Ehud Olmert told Israel Radio. Israel's security Cabinet said last week it
had decided to 'remove' Arafat, but did not elaborate. . . . Israel says
Arafat is at least indirectly to blame for the terror attacks against its
civilians, and blames him for blocking peace efforts."

- Associated Press, 9/14/03

Stupid Is As Stupid Asks

"Democrats on the presidential campaign trail ask whether people feel safer
now after Afghanistan and Iraq than they did two years ago. It's a
viscerally stupid question and a politically mischievous one - no one can
feel entirely safe in the aftermath of September 11."

- Columnist Larry Kudlow

Flypaper Strategy

"The terrorists are drawn to Iraq out of weakness, not strength. . . . The
terrorists - and the governments that sponsor them - realize that if freedom
and democracy take root in Iraq, they are doomed. They have to fight there,
even though it isn't good ground for them. As the terrorists concentrate,
they become easier for our intelligence analysts to track. And our soldiers
can kill them there without reading them their Miranda rights first.
Geography, time, and - increasingly - the Iraqi people, are on our side. . .
. The terrorists understand this. Too bad so few of our journalists and
politicians do."

- Columnist Jack Kelly

Byrd-Man Craps on War on Terror

"Winning (the war on terror) will require many resources so Americans don't
return to a "false comfort in a dangerous world." But some members of
Congress seem to have different ideas. 'Congress is not an ATM,' snapped
Sen. Robert Byrd, West Virginia Democrat, in response to the president's
request for $87 billion to fight the war on terrorism.

"...Mr. Byrd, who has used public money to put his name on more buildings
than Ronald McDonald, says that when it comes to protecting our national
security, he refuses to 'simply rubber-stamp' the president's request. But
Mr. Byrd would undoubtedly have no problem 'rubber-stamping' pork for West
Virginia."

The Trouble With Bush's Tax Cuts

"President Bush's latest round of income-tax reductions are believed by a
number of economists to have played a major role in a second-quarter growth
spurt that promises to last and produce jobs and wealth for all segments of
the economy, including the middle class and the poor. There also is a
problem with the tax cuts. They were not accompanied by spending reductions
or even by an attempt to keep spending from galloping along at its current
record-setting pace. The consequence of lessened income and increased outgo
will be runaway, compounding deficits and ever expanding interest payments
in the budget as the national debt reaches the danger point."

- Columnist Jay Ambrose

Just Say No to (Subsidized) Drugs

"A congressional conference committee now is trying to reach a compromise
between a bad Medicare prescription drug bill passed by the House and a
worse bill passed by the Senate. The only possible outcome is something
awful - and President Bush, who is pressuring Republicans to compromise, has
pledged to sign practically any bill that emerges. Citizens who care about
their health, their finances and their freedom can only hope the Senate and
House of Representatives reject whatever comes out of the conference
committee."

- Richard Ralston, Americans for Free Choice in Medicine, Washington Times,

CA's Loss Is Nevada's Gain

"The latest economic disaster, the soaring costs of (California's) workers'
compensation insurance, has been less visible on the public's outrage screen
than some others, but it may prove to be the worst of all," says Investor's
Business Daily. "Take the case of Mitchell Greif, who owns a Southern
California factory that employs 150 workers and makes plastic bags. His
required premiums for workers' compensation insurance have soared from
$255,000 in 2001 to $570,000 this year. If he stays put, they'll hit
$700,000. But he's not staying put. He's pulling up stakes and moving his
whole operation to Las Vegas. Two-thirds of his workers have agreed to go
with him, and a few are already there."
