. Nothing fancy. Just to be able to adjust the clip
so as to match up to our new data base of calls.
Wow. We can dream.

I'm curious to know
migrate another way in the spring? As Mike says, it takes years
of data to show anything. This could all just be within the sampling error.
But perhaps someone out there knows something about sparrow migration that may
explain it.

Hi Andrew and all,
Automated detection of calls
would
seem to fit a bell-shaped curve just fine. Or maybe a left or right skewed one
at least. Especially if the north wind nights with small flights are removed
from the data.

Well, at the risk of total humiliationI believe it’s a Canada Warbler.
What you see is the back end of the sonogram. Once you see that, you can just
see in GlassOFire the hint of the rest of the sonogram. And in Raven Pro, you
can tease it out some.

Yes! I have been looking at this great wind map since Chris alerted us to it.
The last 1O days there have been extended days in which most of the eastern
US, and Texas, had north winds and there has been a near complete collapse in
recording data in Austin during those times. And like
the coast.
And I have a portable one that runs from the car for trips this month when
camping next to migrant traps of coastal Texas. The purpose of this one is
mostly to gather more examples of sonograms.
Don’t laugh at mePlease!

This excel macro counts the number of flight calls for a given hour of the
night. There are two arguments to the function, folder name and hour of day.
So for instance, if you have all your birds in individual folders, you can put
a row in excel of the folder names and down the left
day time field recording
of LeConte’s for comparison to nightly sonograms.
Nelson Sparrows? We have recorded 102 possible Nelson’s. Which are listed
as accidental in Austin according to bird checklists. Exciting...if true
