[NTG-context] Q about hangaround commands

2010-10-26 Thread Vladimir Lomov
Hi.

I'm trying to figure out the limitation of \start/stophangaround commands.

1. Is it correct that currently the figure could be placed only on
left? If so is it easy to extend the command to allow placing figure
at right side?
2. Is there way to increase/decrease the space between the text and image?
3. Is it correct that hangaround command is tricky hack that change normal flow?

I prepare simple example (it is attached). 1) is obvious from the
example (default behavior I assume). 3): I got the '2.' not on left
side as 1) and 3) but on left side of text block right after image.
Another example if 3): if I put empty line between \starthangaround
and \input (see the file) then there would be mess.

P.S. I tried the example with MkIV only.

[NTG-context] ideas for ConTeXt meetings

2010-10-26 Thread Henning Hraban Ramm

* publicity:
If we meet less far off than Brejlov or Porquerolles, we could open
for a public day with introductional workshops, a keysigning party
etc., perhaps in cooperation with a local Linux/Open Source user group.

* if you're looking for a venue near the Netherlands, consider this:
http://www.bildung-klingberg.de/
(educational site Klingberg, near Scharbeutz/Baltic Sea, website
unfortunately only in German)

Disclaimer: I know the managers.

* Tägerwilen 2016
I take that serious ;-) Perhaps the TeX groups in Stuttgart and Ulm
can help to organize a meeting in the Stuttgart-Ulm-Konstanz triangle.

But until then empires will rise and fall, calendars may end... ;-)

[NTG-context] An Exam Preparation Issue (framedtext and overlap problem)

2010-10-26 Thread Murat Demirten
Hi,

I'm so new in the Context's voodoo world and I'm trying to build an exam
from a questions database.

A regular question has 5 options and only one correct answer.

I want to prepare a good looking pdf file, the most important requirement
for the pdf is that, a question and all of its 5 options must be on the same
page.

So I found the startframedtext command and start to work on it. Now I have
16 questions and their options in the tex file, but on the Page1 only
questions 1-6 shown
and question 6 divided. On the second page it continue from question 16
(7-15 doesn't shown).

I've no idea about this, if anyone can show me a way to found real problem

Re: [NTG-context] hyphenated url

2010-10-26 Thread Steffen Wolfrum

Hi Aditya, Philipp and all,

thank you very much for your interesting ideas!
As far as I understood, your starting point is to avoid % being treated as
comment ...
This is nice for controlled situations.

But in real life projects there are many, various situations where the % is
used and needed as comment!

Isn't there a way to treat % as a regular character dedicated in the
\hyphenatedurl{} environment only??

Steffen

PS @ Philipp: Using * as line comment would start the problem again, as *
is also a valid part of URL addresses ...

of course we need to keep a character for comment.

In organizing an international meeting, it is always a delicate balance in

to be organized which implies quite a lot of (volonteer) work from a small

It is also sane that the meeting be held in different regions, and,

Indeed. But this is almost impossible for an international meeting.
Many academics begin their term early September or even at the end of August.
Some finish in May, others as late as the end of July. This leaves early
August.
However, many salaired workers can only take their vacation at that time...
So, no date is ideal!

 Hi,

I'm so new in the Context's voodoo world and I'm trying to build an exam from
 a questions database.

A regular question has 5 options and only one correct answer.

I want to prepare a good looking pdf file, the most important requirement for
the pdf is that, a question and all of its 5 options must be on the same page.

So I found the startframedtext command and start to work on it. Now I have 16
questions and their options in the tex file, but on the Page1 only questions
1-6 shown and question 6 divided. On the second page it continue from
 question 16 (7-15 doesn't shown).

I've no idea about this, if anyone can show me a way to found real problem
 I'll be very glad.

The odd behavior is caused by the „columns“ option in the itemize (which will
never work for you in your file because you use it inside framedtext where
columns are not possible). You can also see the effect in this far simpler
example:

\starttext

\dorecurse{20}
  {\startframedtext
   \startcolumns
text
   \stopcolumns
   \stopframedtext}

\stoptext

Hi,

I don't have to use framedtext, the reason for that it is the only way I can
found to group a question and its itemized options together, in a page.

Is there any way to ensure that a group (a question and its answer options)
must be located in same page and if it needs extra spacing whole group goes
into the next page?

Regards,

The texts „line“ and „lines“ are set with \setuplabeltext but you can see
alternative texts with \inline{...}[ref].

\setuptyping[numbering=line,escape=yes]

\starttext

See \inline[line:single] and also \inline[line:range].

See \inline{typeline}[line:single] and also \inline{typelines}[line:range].

See line~\inlinerange[line:single] and also lines~\inlinerange[line:range].

\starttyping
