I need footnotes as a single paragraph at the bottom of each page for a
second footnote system with
\definenote [secondnote] [numberconversion=set 2]
It’s the style of footnotes in critical editions – what’s the option for
para?

is it possible to pass data from MetaPost back to TeX? This would be similar
in spirit to, say, the MetaPost variable BodyFontSize that contains data
from the TeX surrounding. Just the other way round.
