Thank you both for your help. Additionally, I needed to make sure that
\setupbodyfont comes after all this. But now I've finally got the
margin-potruding quotations of my dreams.

I switched computers and distros so all of those things might've been refreshed or altered upstream. I'm using Junicode for the main & bold but with Tex Gyre Schola for italic, and then grabbing miscellaneoussymbols out of a DejaVu Serif fallback and using DejaVu Sans Mono for mono (althought this particular page doesn't have any mono). If it isn't that case that those fonts have changed their metrics, which I wouldn't know, I'm kinda out of the loop generally (#unplugged), I was thinking that maybe the culprit could be that it used to work off of the italic's ex height and now works off of the main's ex height but that's just wild guessing on my part. I'm working around the problem by setting the interline space to 3.0675ex which makes the recompiled pages match the previously compiled pages exactly. (I don't know why that number. I found it by trying every number and seeing what matched.) The previously compiled pages didn't have an interline space set. Thanks again. [NTG-context] interline space default changed?
I was rerunning ConTeXt on some older documents and the interline space isn't the same. Sure, the new default looks great, but what was the old default? I need to match what I've already published. For some reason, it just started working today. After all this time. I
have no idea what was going on.

and then referring to to the font family "jeans" later on.

[NTG-context] LuaTeX finds font, mtxrun --fonts does not list it?
I'm trying to add a ttf font (Futura) so I can use it in ConTeXt. I've ran mtxrun --script fonts --list --all |less looked at a ttf font that was there, copied my Futura ttfs to the same directory it was in, and ran mtxrun --script fonts --reload --force But I still can't find it in mtxrun --script fonts --list --all |less nor can I use it in ConTeXt. (The filenames don't have spaces.) The curious thing is that the luatex cache has it. It's listed in /home/sandra/.texmf-var/luatex-cache/generic/names/luaotfload-names.luc under various names, all starting with futuralt. Curiously, /home/sandra/.texmf-var/luatex-cache/context/[number]/fonts/otf/futuralt-book.tm[ac] exist. But the only book- related name in luaotfload-names.luc is futuraltbook, not futuralt-book. Neither worked in ConTeXt, though. How do I move forward with this, how do I add ttfs so that ConTeXt understand them? This is probably a pretty basic question, but how do I find out the name of the font that \definefontfamily expects in the third argument? For example, \definefontfamily [dejavu] [serif] [DejaVu Serif] works fine and sets the text in DejaVu Serif, but that’s not a name I can find with mtxrun –scripts font: ellen% mtxrun --script fonts --list --all --pattern='*DejaVu*'|wc -l 28 ellen% mtxrun --script fonts --info --list --all --pattern='*DejaVu*'|grep -i DejaVu Serif|wc -l 0 mtxrun --script fonts --info for Deja Vu doesn't show that identifier anywhere. I want to find out what, for example, Bookman is called. \definetypeface [five] [rm] [serif] [bookman] works fine and sets the text in some font that sure looks a lot like Bookman to my eyes, but \definefontfamily [five] [serif] [bookman] doesn’t work at all and the text doesn’t show up. ellen% mtxrun --script fonts --list --all --pattern='*bookman*'|wc -l 5 I’ve looked all over for this... even tried understanding font-sel.mkvii (with mediocre success).
