I get a “Missing { inserted.” error under certain circumstances.
Here is an example:

\blackrule [height=8cm]
\startpostponing
\placefigure
[] {foo}{bar}
\stoppostponing
\blackrule [height=15cm]
\startlines
a
b
\stoplines
\stoptext
I used black rules
