I am afraid that the update of today (28-1-2006) also has generated a problem. This used to work (just a plaintex \eqalign) \starttext \placeformula\startformula \matrix{ab\cr cd\cr} \eqalign{ a = b\cr pq = t+1\cr } \stopformula \stoptext I see in core-mat.tex a macro
