Re: [NTG-context] end footnotes before new chapter starts?

Never. Not even a split note.

Agreed. The same should be true in MKII, I absolutely consider the
current failure of \flushfootnotes a bug, I just have no idea how
to fix it.

Best wishes,
Taco

Hi,

is there a way to end (flush) footnotes of a chapter before the
next chapters starts?

Please have a look at this double-page spread below, please:

http://werksatz.com/attachments/spread.pdf

Footnote no. 37 should be the first footnote that is printed under
the footnote line of the first page of the new chapter (right).

This is even more important/annoying when footnote numbering starts
at 1 with a new chapter!!

\flushfootnotes should do the trick.

Sure, that's what I assumed, too. But it doesn't ;o(

Please have a look at page 15 in test_x.pdf generated from
text_x.tex in this folder:

http://werksatz.com/attachments/TEST_X.zip

The \flushfootnotes was written at the end of einleitung.tex and
thus should prevent the next chapter from einleitung's footnotes.

What is wrong?

I have no idea. An explicit \page\hbox{}\page 'fixes' this particular
file, but that is not a proper solution. Maybe it is because it is a
split footnote?

Yes maybe...

Right now this is not a usable situation. But it should be at least a
feature request for MkIV:

When setuphead is defined with page=yes there shall NO footnote be
written from a chapter/section before!

Never. Not even a split note.
