Never mind. I was trying to delete the PTR record from my workstation; I run an MMC console that has DNS, DHCP, etc, all loaded. Once I remoted to the console of actual DC, I was able to delete the record, and it stayed away ... Oh, well, as long as it's resolved, I can leave for a long weekend
