Is DFS involved?
We had a similar issue with pdf. Opening from a dfs share -
\\comp.com\dfs\share\pdf.pdf
wouldn't open, but \\comp\dfs\share\pdf.pdf did. (note the missing
the zone map keys for
the trusted domain.

User tried turning off the sandbox, and it's now working for him.
Didn't work for me, and I don't know why.
I hate magic...

We have DFS, but using the straight machine share showed the same symptom.
Regardless, turning off the sandbox seems to have worked for the user.

(note the missing .com). Also, strangely enough, even with the longer path, we
could make a copy of the file and it opened fine.
Are any Privileged Locations settings configured?

Never mind - I looked it up.
No, there were none on my test machine. I manually deployed AR, and
did nothing to it.

From what I have seen, Automatically trust sites from within my Win OS
security zones should be on by default. If thats not selected, try
turning it on.

Just PDFs? Or are other docs affected?

All,
A user in our AU office on a Win7 machine is complaining about
inability to open PDFs from our US file server. The error he gets is:
Is there a difference in behavior between UNC and mapped connections? Is
Sandbox Protection enabled?

Just PDFs, Word and Excel files apparently open OK.

The PDFs are all I've heard about so far.
I don't have any office apps installed on my test machine - I'll ping
Based on what you just said I would look for someone fooling around in AD if I
was you.
