by something like DBAN.
Does anyone have experience with a company which offers this service and
which they would recommend? I can Google
You could let it DIAF. At some point the material will reach its
curie point and lose all magnetic recordings.

Interesting article. They are pretty specific about destruction methods.
I agree with Erik, with the current price of drives, destruction IS secure,
cheap and can be done most anywhere with any of several methods. (large
hammers, drills, sand blaster, small arms fire, etc) Typically I pull the

This is an amalgamated reply to multiple posts.
I'm speaking mainly to DoD/DSS/NISP standards here, since that's
what I'm familiar with. Such won't necessarily translate to PCI
requirements, although private industry often follows DoD's lead here.
