I searched for the gull on Saturday morning. The wind and cold were brutal. I
was there from around 8:30 to 12:00. No luck.
I went at that time because I read last week that the bird seemed to show up

The Southern Nassau County Christmas Bird Count was conducted on Saturday, 2
January 2010, by 49+ participants. This represents the 70th time this CBC has
been held since its inception in 1932 (there were several years with no count
during the 1930s and 1940s). References to

Joe Giunta and I (Sy Schiff) went to Jones Beach before noon and stopped by

Yesterday morning I joined Tom Kerr and Manny (didn't get the last name) for
the CBC walk in Willow Lake Park. Among other things, a COMMON MERGANSER was
spotted on the water and Tom suggested that this might be a sighting of
interest.
