I started out this morning at the Coast Guard Station where the sand spit was
devoid of birds. I tried scoping out the flats across the channel, but the
foggy conditions didn't help. So I resorted to walking the median where there
were several flocks of Pine Siskins, Goldfinches, and a

A brief visit to Jones Beach West End with Sam Jannazzo revealed two
lapland longspurs amist about 50 snow buntings. The group flew off and when
relocated the longspurs were no longer with them. Also an adult Coopers hawk
was seen.
