We had our first Common Redpoll of the season at our feeders
yesterday (12/5) in Lyndonville (Orleans County), along with a
smattering of the more common species. Hoping for more!

The Sunken Meadow hermit warbler was seen as of 2 pm today. It continues to
forage in the grassy area in front of the "no pets year round" sign west of the
flagpole. For those unfamiliar with the park: just drive north on Sunken
Meadow Parkway to the end and park in the northwest corner of

The Jones Beach Shrike continues at the Teddy Roosevelt Nature Center (
West End 1 field). On the parking lot of West End 2 were numerous Horned
Larks and Snow Buntings. Three very cooperative (1 male, 2 females)
Hermit Warbler still in same place in Sunken Meadow Park as yesterday.

My sister and I viewed the Varied Thrush this morning around 7:30 AM. It was
in the same area, scratching around in the leaves and dirt right next to the
restrooms (east of them).
