Hi Everyone, There were 2 Great Cormorants and 3 Purple
Sandpipers,[east side] at the Inlet today. One of the G.Cormorants , a
juvenile, was sitting at the base of the ocean Buoy that is directly out
from the inlets mouth. Common Eiders were still abundant around the bay and

After locating 2 Saw-whet Owls on the Mohonk Lake-Ashokan Reservoir
CBC on December 18th, we decided to go back to relocate them to see if
they are wintering there. This evening, Susan Rogers and I went to
Sundale Rd, near the town of Krumville, Ulster County. We called for
nearly a half

My wife and I are taking a somewhat impromptu trip to Costa Rica in a few
weeks. I figured some on the list would have very good first hand
information where to go. My wife is not a birder and told me she would kill
me if i got her up early every morning. Anywhere where I can get up early
on
I just got a call from Seth Ausubel who reported that Tom Burke found a Le
Conte's Sparrow at the Calverton Grasslands. The bird is in a fenced-off area
with some kind of electrical equipment in it along the northern-most runway
just
west of the north-south road that splits the property.
After leaving Belmont, Pat and I headed over to nearby St. Charles Cemetery, to
see if we could re-find the Barnacle Goose. Sure enough, it was there, among
the geese visible from the main entrance on Wellwood Ave.

I arrived at BLSP at 8:00AM this morning to see if the Barnacle Goose reported
from St. Charles Cemetery was spending the night on Belmont Lake. I observed
the Barnacle Goose on the West side of Belmont Lake at 8:15AM. Shortly after
that I noticed a Cackling Goose in the mass of some 1500
