Sue and I spent Tuesday morning conducting a breeding bird survey at Caumsett State Park. It was a warm day and bird song was light after 9:00AM. Nevertheless, we recorded 62 species for the morning. Highlights included an Eastern Meadowlark on territory in the western fields; two tardy

Today around 4:00, Betsy spotted a White-crowned Sparrow in the yard. It fed in the grass and when it returned a few hours later, it fed under a spruce tree where we throw seed most of the year (but not now!). I was able to digiscope a few shots. This is the latest spring migrant we have ever
