Jones Beach Coast Guard Station. 20 Aug Today's Godwit was a Hudsonian molting into basic plumage. It has a fair amount of warm brown on it and because of the distance requires care to make sure which species is actually there. Both today's bird and the prior one flew showing the wing

Hello Everyone, I led a Cornell Cooperative/Suffolk Parks Bird Walk at Cupsogue this morning of marsh and mudflats. The tidal pond furthest west of the big flat was quite active with a Yellow Crowned , 3 Black Crowned Night Herons, both Yellowlegs, SB Dowitchers, Eastern Willets, Glossy

Among the 54 species I saw at Cupsogue Beach County Park in Suffolk Co this morning were 5 Marbled Godwits - they were foraging together at the edge of the bay when I first saw them, then split into two groups around 8am. Other birds interesting to me were the first Yellow-crowned Night-Heron
