Yes, and quite some time ago at that. My first of the season for New York
was at the Ruth Oliva Preserve in East Marion, Long Island on Sept. 17th.
Then my first of the season here in New Jersey was on Oct. 6th at Troy
Meadows.

of the ordinary other than a lack of chickadees. . .

Hi all, just curious, has anyone seen Juncos yet? Or White-throated sparrows?
I saw my first-of-season Juncos and White-Throated Sparrows this past Sunday,
in Falls Village, CT (in the northwest corner of the state). It was a small,
active flock of maybe 6-8 birds and one of the sparrows sang

Joe Giunta, Sam Jannazzo, and I (Sy Schiff) started at the bar in front of the
marina. Among the 800-1,000 shorebirds, were an AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER, 2
MARBLED GODWIT, a WILLET and a ROYAL TERN hidden among the resting gulls.
FORSTER'S TERNS continue fishing
At noon today I had a Common Raven circling and calling over the Sarah Lawrence
College campus in Yonkers, NY.

For those currently on manhattan island, there is presently (~1pm) a black
vulture soaring with 2 peregrines, four turkey vultures, and a northern harrier
over midtown in the lower 50s. From my vantage on the east side, the birds look
