I took a brief tour about the black dirt area and the highlights were; - Indiana Road had 75 Horned Lark and 2 Savannah Sparrows- The "Camel Farm" outside Johnson hosted a dozen Green-winged Teal, 8 Mallards, +/-4000 Canada Geese and 41 Amer. Golden Plovers(getting late) -
For the 4th time in 11 years the Beverly Smith Butterfly garden at Lenoir
Nature Preserve in Yonkers, Westchester County is hosting a selasphorus
hummingbird. It was first observed by Bill Van Wart at a feeder behind the
Lenoir Mansion where Hudson River Audubon Society conducts a part-time
The FRANKLIN'S GULL was back in the same area as yesterday, viewed from
Artpark State Park in Lewiston, NY. The bird works back and forth and was
easy to see for much of the time we were there. We saw it between 2:00 and
2:40 but Peter Yoerg had it around 10:30 this morning.

Audubon Society, I continued to Jamaica Bay where the Eared Grebe continued on
the bayside of the West Pond around Bench 5. There were reports in the bird
log of the grebe around 11:00 am, but then it apparently

An adult BLACK-HEADED GULL was in the mixed gull flock at the south
end of the Owl’s Head Wastewater Treatment Plant in Bay Ridge,
Brooklyn this morning (photographed.) Likely the same bird that has
frequented the spot for the last two winters, if it follows pattern
it may persist
Hi all,
At least one LAPLAND LONGSPUR on top of the capped landfill this morning.
Plus about half a dozen Snow Buntings, a smattering of larks and pipits,
and two Vesper Sparrows. A number of flyover Purple Finches were my first
this fall.
