This morning at about 10:30 I spotted an immature male Blue Grosbeak at All Faiths Cemetery in Middle Village, Queens on Metropolitan Avenue. This was on the south side of the cemetery in the section along the Christ the King parking lot. I uploaded couple of shots here:

I did a little late morning and early afternoon birding along the Fire and Jones barrier beach today. Sunday's coastal storm brought in Lesser Black-backed Gulls to the barrier beach - I recorded one at Robert Moses, three at Captree, and one at West End. At Captree State Park my FOY Indigo

On Saturday, 4/21, I came upon (read, almost hit) 2 Turkey Vultures, while they feasted on a flattened Opossum, on Manor Rd., between Rt. 25 & Middle Rd., Calverton - this being only the 2nd time I've ever seen this species feeding on the ground on L.I. This general area (mostly agricultural)

Fortuitous late start: Just observed an adult male Mag Frigatebird from the Point. It was attracted to a feeding flock of gulls and gannets well off the Point; then slowly headed west along the north side of the Point. The right side of its tail is damaged. -- NYSbirds-L List Info:
