Had seven calling Eastern Whip-poor-wills in the Napeague Harbor area
(Suffolk) between 8pm and 9:30pm tonight. 2 on Promised Land Road, 2 on
Napeague Meadow Road, 1 on Lazy Point Road, and 2 on Napeague Harbor Road.
No Chucks unfortunately, at least so far, but I didn't go all the way up

I went birding at the North Fork Preserve this afternoon after 2 PM I did
not find any ducks or wading birds at the much less Snipes at any of the
ponds.( There are at least 6 vernal ponds in this new park) There is a
pond I call it the Snipes pond, close to where you enter since there

Around 4 PM today I spotted a Grasshopper Sparrow at All Faiths Cemetery in
Middle Village. It was in virtually the same spot as one I saw last

nineteen species of warblers. Our best find was a Bay-breasted Warbler and a
late Yellow-throated Vireo. We were unable to relocate the Prothonotary Warbler
found Thursday morning at the stream outlet to the South Pond.
Experienced some very productive birding at Sunken Meadow State Park today
(7:30-2:00). The park was well populated with migrants, including 18 species
of warbler. Of those that don't nest locally, N. Parulas were especially
abundant. Highlights included TENNESSEE (2), CANADA (4), PRAIRIE (3),

Did a quick trip up to Sterling Forest and Doodle town yesterday with
Derek Rogers and Bob Hayes to find some life birds { for them, sigh }.
Sterling Forest did not disappoint with highlights of Golden-wing,
Blue-wing, Prairie, Indigo, Field sparrow and Hooded, Raven, and
Red-shouldered
